As our fascination in seeing an ant (or ant all for that matter) are twisted when the angle of the magnifying glass just to the sun, is also our fascination with celebrities. In the latest installment of American Idol show, the common man just wants to be recognized and what better way to becoming a "star". Many of us dream of him, very few of us do and for those lucky (or unlucky depending on your point of view) to be under the microscope of celebrity of the rewards appear to be large.
Never been a celebrity, although I feel a bit of a "big fish" in my hometown (smugly fans nails on shirt) I must say that being a celebrity does not seem too bad. It would take the money and gift bags and free stuff and said Umm money? … Yes, I would greatly enjoy the benefits of 'celebrityhood' (or is celebritydom?) Any day but how many of us could live until the control?
For your every move recorded, relationships count, the smallest slip, or flaw discussed by millions of people (for those of us with large families who already get a taste of this … Thanks Mom!). Now I know some of you are thinking about money and benefits that balance out but think of the freedom of anonymity it is now, you can pick your nose in public if you wish, you can get a few stares, but "the event 'will not be recorded and picked over (pun, ha!) since time immemorial.
But why are we so fascinated? Does our fascination help us feel better about ourselves? Or is caused by envy? For whatever reasons celebrity news and gossip is big business and the latest news are available worldwide reach of our hands and their grandmother has a blog about a celebrity or otherwise. Many of us readily denounce gossip in our daily life but I think our guilty pleasure by connecting to the most hated celebrity more blogs to see the harshest comments about this or that person.
We have become so famous fried ants poor. We feel superior as we sit at our desks and look with pity or contempt to the youngest celebrity to end up in jail or forget their panties or fall flat on his baby face. But unfortunately the fame and celebrity are synonymous, and as Newton said every action there is an equal and opposite reaction so the money and perks cause curiosity and the paparazzi. Now … because they have spent more than an hour I checked the blog, now I see what Britney is doing.
