Our enthusiasm for Celebrities

Why is that so many people are obsessed with the lives of celebrities? Stardom has always fascinated us to some degree, but now live in an age where everything goes well beyond a mere sense of wonder.

For some people it really has become an obsession. If you go to any kiosk then you will find a wide selection of magazines devoted entirely to the current run of celebrity desirable. I say "current batch" because the world of celebrity is an incredibly fickle. Those who want above all today are casually discarded tomorrow. What is a strange place we live in where so many people are in such a hurry to read about "our society of the gods. All those elite people who live in a fairytale world of designer clothes, telephone number salaries and silicone body parts. Why are these creatures so magical for us? Celebrity magazines attract a large audience who can not have enough beds, that's who, what perfume you wear and what has been done to their facial features.

We are at a time when it has a huge gap between rich and poor clamor yet many of us for the latest departures of people who will never know what's fight about money. Maybe it's the romance of the existence of celebrities that makes it so attractive to us. We are social like magpies, seeking the bright glow of a perfect lifestyle, while remaining outside the fact that we are supporting the same lifestyle, investing in celebrity magazines oriented docu-dramas. The great irony of all this is that these people do not live in their high positions, but for our fascination with their lives.

Celebrity need not be all bad though, in the past has given us healthy role models for our children and the goals for us to aim for. When we hear a "story of rags to riches" that makes us feel good and we wonder if we too might perhaps succeed in something we should do. If a hero of the music or the life of the film industry for good morals and a positive attitude, then we are happy for our children to admire. The unfortunate thing is that is weird and totally out of fashion many more decent role models, bad examples are much better employees.

We must treat the worship of celebrity with caution. Some elements of which are harmless or even good, but a much larger part is very dangerous. No need to waste so much time focusing on the lives of the rich and famous, as there is no real rewards. Instead, we must take time to study our own lives and how we can improve on them. We are only here once and would be a shame to spend so much time looking at others when we should be focused on ourselves.
